Miniatures

For most of my time as an artist I had never worked in miniatures – in fact, I had been pushing myself to work on ever larger scales. When I was invited to participate in an exhibit called “Miniatures Conjure Delight,” where the works would be displayed inside a 12” x 12” gallery box, I immediately thought it would be an easy task. I soon discovered it was not easy at all! But it became an exciting challenge to capture the audience’s attention with such small works and invite them into the miniature world. 

I had been collecting matchboxes for some time, I had also been journaling about my dreams, hoping to use them in an art series at some point. I decided to create small box-like “zines” and scrolls that as you unravel them reveal the content of a dream. I also decided to write them in Spanish to add an additional mystique and personal connection.
